Children In Need
We all have our pet charities that we love, and we find time to give them what we can in the way of help and donations. One popular type of charity is one that helps children in need. Children are innocent, and often born into situations that are not the best, but their parents do what they can. This means that the kindness of strangers can mean the difference between starving and having a good meal, or may mean that Christmas is a happy time instead of filled with disappointment.
Most are touched by children in need because they know the child did nothing to get themselves into their predicament. They can’t help how they were born, or who they were born to. Not all parents are bad, some just have bad luck, and they do the best they can with what they have. Sometimes, that is just not enough. Children in need are always grateful, and perhaps that is why so many support those causes as well. Most communities have many programs for children, and they make up the majority of charities that most give to each year.
One popular charity for kids in need is Toys For Tots. Each year, stores and volunteers collect unopened toys to give to children in need in the immediate area. I always try to buy some stuff to throw in the box. No child should be without presents during the holidays, and this is one that always touches me. It might not be as important as putting food on the table, but giving a child joy is something that should be special to everyone. They are always so grateful, even when they have little to be grateful for.
When checking out other charities for children in need, do a little research. If it is a well known charity, you shouldn’t have anything to worry about. Your money, however, is best spent going to a charity that does not take a lot off the top for administrative purposes. Some money has to go to this, but it should not be a lot of it. If you aren’t happy with the percentages, you are free to give your money to someone else. There are plenty of children in need out there, and plenty of charities that will help them. You can feel free to find the right one so you know the money is going where it should be going.

Radio Controlled Devices
Building, driving, and modifying radio-controlled car kits or other toys is a popular hobby among radio controlled enthusiasts. The radio controlled devices are a popular hobby, and are a key component in a sport that involves displaying the skill of the user in controlling the device efficiently.
Radio Controlled devices, or remote controlled devices as they are also called, are devices that are worked remotely from a distance. The first demonstration of the remote controlling activity was perhaps by Jagdish Chandra Bose when he ignited gun powder and struck a gong from a distance using electromagnetic radiation.
Tesla was the first to demonstrate a remotely controlled ship calling teleautomata, using transmitter and receiver showing how ships and mechanical gadgets can be controlled on a wireless principle in 1898. He also constructed a wireless tower which remained unfinished due to economic constraints. This showed the farsightedness of Tesla. He laid the foundations for the radio controlled devices that we have today. American inventor Armstrong remarked about Tesla: “The world will long have to wait for a mind equal to Tesla’s, a mind of such creative possibilities and such wealth of imagination.”
The remote controlled devices are commonly called RC devices – RC stands for Radio Controlled. In 1937 the first radio controlled airplane was flown by Dr. William Good and his twin brother Walter. Dr. William was a specialist in radios and Walter made aeromodels, and they combined them to create the RC plane. Radio control had also been employed in WWII. In the 1960s, the availability of transistors revolutionized the circuits and made them more compact and light.
Principle of the modern RC toys: In the mid to late 60′s, a British company named Mardave, based in Leicester, began to produce the first commercially viable RC Cars. Their first cars were Nitro or gas powered cars sold in the local area in the early 70′s. All such devices require a transmitter with controls, a throttle trigger and the wheels for turning. The receiver is placed in the body of the toy.
The models can be electric models as well as fuel models. The electric models work with electrical speed control, and the fuel control systems utilize the radio control mechanisms to regulate the fuel input and the such.
The radio controlled models can be toy grade or hobby grade. The toy grade devices are available in retail shops, and are available at a far lesser price. They are ready made assembled models, and usually utilize electric power. Hobby grade models are available at a greater cost but are more durable and serviceable. They usually require assembly, and most often run on gasoline or nitro.
These radio controlled cars are also used in races, and the cars or toys used in the races should confirm to the specifications. The RC devices can be varied, and include cars, boats, airplanes, helicopters and robotics. The small robots, cars and toys are usually for indoor play. Robotics combined with remote control technology is frequently seen in the international robotics contests held annually in Japan and other countries. Robotics are another hobby, which are even more interesting when combined with radio controlled or remote controlled toys.
The uses for radio control are limitless, and cars only scratch the surface. In reality, there are hundreds of different ways that you can enjoy radio controlled hobbies.
Radio controlled (RC) toys can be toy grade or hobby grade.
The toy-grade Radio Controlled devices can be available at a cheap rate in almost every retail store. They are made of non-serviceable parts and are produced in bulk. The toys are not very robust in their speed or abilities. A radio controlled device of one toy cannot be used in another toy. They are not durable and are of ‘soft” material; these toys are mostly not able to take on the rugged terrain outdoors. They are available in “ready to use”, “buy and play” models and need no assembly. The only thing that will be required is to open the battery case and put in the batteries, and then the toy is ready for use.
On the other hand, hobby grade radio controlled toys are made of durable material, and are custom made. They are mostly simple in their design. The design is simple and can be re-used / remodeled, and can be serviced. The radio controller and the parts can easily be used in another hobby grade toy. They are durable and more robust. They are not always available in ready-to-use state, though there are many hobby-grade RC stores that will deliver the toy in assembled state. Many hobbyists like to buy the toy in parts, and prefer to do the assembly themselves. The design, assembly, and driving of the radio controlled toy is in itself a hobby. The serious hobbyists also indulge in the RC sports that have their rules and specifications, not to mention the winnings which usually will be an enhancement to their current RC toy or another RC toy.
Every RC toy is available as a toy grade or a hobby grade toy nowadays. They can be airplanes, helicopters, boats, cars and robots.
Airplanes come in various sizes and shapes ranging from small flyers to gas turbine driven aerobatic models. The models can be tethered to a fixed pole via rope, or can be free flying models. They can be electrically propelled, or fuel driven models. The latest radio controlled models can reach up to 250mph. RC airborne toys require a high level of knowledge and control, and will need supervision of adults. They are not suitable for younger kids. They are relatively more expensive than the rest of the RC models. This is another reason that younger kids cannot use it safely, since a crash can result in damage that can be too costly.
The RC car is the one most common toy among radio controlled model hobbyists. The cars come in various sizes and shapes and can also be fuel driven or electrically powered. Just like the cars come in various sizes and shapes, so do the enthusiasts! RC cars are relatively safe compared to the airborne toys, and can be controlled even by a child. They can be “off-road” or “on-road” models, referring to the terrain on which they can drive on. The RC car races are common for the radio controlled model hobbyists.
Helicopters: Another airborne radio controlled model. It is different from the airplane in design and flight, and some say that it is much more interesting to fly. However, the same considerations that apply to helicopters apply here too.
A radio controlled boat was the first ‘toy” to be remote controlled. Tesla demonstrated the remote control boat model which he showed to the public as a device that “obeyed people’s commands”, where in reality it was him controlling the boat according to the people’s commands.
Robotics: These are most popular in Japan, but the popularity is quickly catching up in other nations in the west too. Robotic hobbyists who design, control and model the robotics for various activities are common, and there are various competitions held regularly for them to create the best robot. Robotics however, are actually moving from radio controlled models to the latest artificial intelligence models and voice controlled models. But, radio controlled models of robots are still very popular as toys, as hobbies as well as a safety tool for remote handling of bombs and such.

Backyard Play Structures For Children
Playing outside is fun, but many children get bored with traditional outdoor activities. To cut down on the boredom in your family, you are encouraged to think about purchasing your child an outdoor play structure. Outdoor play structures are different than most toys because they are larger in size and often come equipped with more than one activity. If you are interested in purchasing one of these popular play structures, you may want to take the time to familiarize yourself with what is available.
When familiarizing yourself with popular outdoor play structures, you will find that you have a number of different options. Perhaps, the easiest way to go about seeing what is available is to visit your local retail stores. Many home improvement stores, toy stores, and department stores should have a fairly large selection of play structures available. In addition to seeing what is available locally, most storefront retail locations will have displays setup. These displays may give you an idea as to what your child’s new toy will look like in your backyard.
While it is nice to view the selection of local play structures, you may also want to examine a number of different online retailers. You may not get to see product displays, but you should be provided with detailed information, including pictures. What is nice about online shopping is that most online retailers have a larger product selection, when compared to most traditional retail stores.
Whether you shop online or at one of your local retail stores, it is likely that you will come across a number of different items that are referred to as play structures. As previously mentioned, most play structures are large in size and are often equipped with more than one activity. Popular play structures include, but should not limited to, swing sets, playhouses, sandboxes, and tree forts.
Sandboxes are often referred to as outdoor play structures because they are made of durable materials. Popular sandbox styles include ones that are made with plastic or wood. It is also important to note that sandboxes come in a wide variety of different sizes. This means that if you have a large yard or a small yard, you should be able to find a sandbox that is perfect for your child.
Tree forts are another popular backyard play structure. Unlike many other play structures, tree forts may be hard to find for sale. This is because a large number of them aren’t just big, but enormous. If you are able to find tree forts for sale, it is likely that only the supplies are for sale. It is rare to find a fully assembled tree fort in most, on and offline, retail stores. If your child would like to have a tree fort, but you are unable to find the supplies for sale or make one yourself, you may want to seek the assistance of a professional contractor.
Tree forts are many children’s dream toy; however, not every child can have one. If you are unable to afford the cost of a tree house or if you do not have any trees in your backyard, you may want to think about purchasing a playhouse. In a way, playhouses are similar to tree forts. The only difference is that playhouses are ground structures. Playhouses, like most other outdoor structures, come in a wide variety of different styles. Many of these styles are great for boy, girls, or even both.
The above mentioned play structures are ideal for small children; however, if you are looking for a structure that can be used for a long period of time, even as your child grows, you may want to look into swing sets. Swing sets often come equipped with swings, slides, teeter totters, and monkey bars. Metal swing sets are available for a reasonable price. For a more expensive and dependable structure, wood swing sets are also available.
In addition to tree forts, playhouses, swing sets, and sandboxes, there are also a number of other outside play structures that are available for sale. Whether you purchase one of the ones mentioned above, another, or make your own, your child will likely be pleased with the purchase. So pleased, that they may never want to play inside again.

Harry Potter Video Games And Toys
Are you one of those video game nuts? You know those guys, right? And I did specify guys on purpose, because girls who enjoy video games are few and far between. At least adult ones anyway. If you are a video game aficionado, then maybe you’re all into the harry potter video games. This goes double for all the young kids out there. I assume that harry potter video games appeal directly to your age group, as do the books and films. What is it with this concept of wizards and demons? One would think folks have never seen it all before.
Do you allow your child to play harry potter video games or view the Harry Potter films? Hey, I’m totally serious when I pose this question. Whether you knew it or not, there are numerous individuals who oppose harry potter video games and movies. Of course it’s debatable whether or not they’re sane. But really, some people simply do not condone these sorts of entertainment due to what they present to the public mind. They in no way want their children exposed to wizardry, witchcraft and demons. This reminds me of the film “Waterboy.” Remember how his mother repeatedly claimed that girls are the Devil? That was priceless. Here we have a similar dispute. You have certain religious, Middle Americans that feel the books, films and harry potter video games influence poorly. In no time at all their children will be soaring through the sky on broomsticks and eating magical chocolate frogs. Because we all know that all of those other children’s shows and films never contained such elements. Ha, that’s the best joke I’ve heard all year. These bible thumpers need to take a second look at the entertainment industry. The things they despise are virtually everywhere.
So, if you are a Harry Potter fan, feel free to get online and check out all the newest harry potter video games, books, trinkets, toys and propaganda. The stuff is everywhere you turn. Indulge in the fantasy of harry potter video games and wizardry. Just be careful that you don’t surrender to the dark side. This could end poorly for us all. Before you know it, you’ll be conjuring demons and conversing with Satan himself. Or, maybe not!

The History Of Toy Electric Trains
Not only do electric toy trains provide allot of fun for the entire family, they have a history that is almost as rich as the one shared by the real railroads.
The very first toy trains first appeared on the market in the 1860′s. These trains were simple designs that were made out of wood and metal. It is doubtful that the designers had any inkling of what there simple floor toys would evolve into.
The Marklin company saw a need for a set of standard gauges for toy trains in 1891. When they first implemented these standard gauges it was for the wind-up (also called clockwork) trains the Marklin Company produced. The same standards are still used for today’s electric trains.
The very first electric toy train was introduced to the world in 1901. The train was a product of the Lionel toy company. At first this train was only intended to be used as a window display. It wasn’t long before consumers were more interested in the window display then in the the merchandise.
It was during the 1920′s that electric toy trains became really popular. At the time all the kids wanted them, but only the rich kids could afford them.
Smaller scaled eclectic toy trains were introduced to the world. These trains were typically O gauge and HO gauge. Most of these trains could only be purchased as kits that were then put together by adults with a great deal of experience.
World War II stopped the production of toy eclectic trains from 1941 through 1945.
When production of toy electric trains resumed after the war, the popularity of the trains took off. By the 1950′s they were the most popular toy among boys in the United States. They had also become more affordable. At this time the biggest toy train manufacturer is Lionel. By the middle of the 1950′s there was a clear division between toy electric trains that were designed by adults and toy eclectic trains that were designed with children in mind.
The N scale train was introduced in 1965. The N scale train was only one half the size of the O trains. Three years later the G scale train was introduced. The G scale train is still a popular choice among garden railroaders. The G scale train was introduced by Germany’s LGB company. The G scale trains allow collectors to add real scenery to their layouts as well as topography. Some people incorporate garden trains directly into their homes landscaping.
Marklin created a train that was even smaller then the N scale train in the 1970′s. This train was called the Z scale. At this time improvements in technology and electronics could be seen in the toy electric trains.
Realistic sounds and digital control systems were added to the electric toy trains in the 1980′s. It is estimated that there are over a half million train collectors in the United States and Canada.

Where To Find Antique Toy Trains For Sale
Collecting antique toy trains is a hobby and passion for many people. Perhaps they started the hobby on their own, or it all began back in their childhood. Toy trains have long been a popular gift and source of entertainment for many children, going back generations. Toy trains are still a well-liked item among children and adults, whether they’re for playtime or collecting. But when you’re looking for a specific antique toy train, you can’t easily run to Wal-Mart or Toys R Us to find what you need. You have to scout out your options and know where to look to find antique toy trains.
The first and most useful place to look for antique toy trains for sale is the internet. While you can’t be completely sure what your item will look like until it arrives, there are steps you can take to ensure you are getting the best quality for your money. Start by searching eBay for antique toy trains. eBay is notorious for having unique items for sale and you can typically find just about anything by utilizing this online auction. Simply type in “antique toy trains” and you’ll be provided with a complete listing of toy trains up for bidding along with pictures and a description of the item. However, before you place a bid on your desired piece, take a look at the description and pictures in detail. Does the seller guarantee the item? (Meaning will you get your money back if the item arrives damaged or doesn’t arrive at all?) Next, examine the pictures to determine if there is visible damage to the toy train.
Most reputable sellers on eBay will specifically add damage to the item in their description and provide a photograph of the damage. If there are only one or two pictures, ask the seller to email you personally more pictures. Let them know you are not interested in purchasing a damaged or scratched item if that’s the case. Also, be sure to look at their seller history and ratings. This will tell you what other buyers had to say about their business transactions with them.
Another great place to find antique toy trains for sale is none other than antique stores. The problem with looking here is that you may have difficulty sorting through all of the antiques to find the toy train you are looking for. Consider asking the owner of the store of they have your desired item, and if you have a picture, show it to them. Most owners or workers of antique stores will have a database of the items for sale and can easily tell you if they have it or not. If not, keep in mind antique stores get unique items in on a daily basis. Ask them to let you know if your toy train comes in.
Finally, you can do a search on the internet to find antique auctions across the country. More specifically, you’ll be able to find auctions held just for antique toy trains. You may have to travel, but if you are able to attend one of these auctions the chances of finding your toy train are very good.

Radio Flyer’s Classic Lights And Sounds Trike
For generations, children have loved to ride on their trikes. A trike is a like a rite of passage for a child: they may be too young yet to ride on a regular bike, but they are big enough to pedal and ride on a trike. Most children who ride trikes are used to the classic Radio Flyer red trike. This red trike was designed to easily take for children to ride around the block or the playground while their parents looked after them. In short, the trike is a child’s first step into independence. But, like all classic toys, the trike was due for an update to bring it into the innovative 21st century. Enter Radio Flyer’s Classic Lights and Sounds Trike. Designed with today’s fashionable child in mind, Radio Flyer’s Classic Lights and Sounds Trike now comes in two different colors: the classic red and girl pink. It’s made to assemble easily with steel and provides a smooth ride for your child. It also holds a secret storage compartment underneath its extra long seat.
Also new on Radio Flyer’s Classic Lights and Sounds Trike is an electronic dashboard where kids can pretend they are riding in their very own car! The electronic dashboard on Radio Flyer’s Classic Lights and Sounds Trike plays music and also makes sounds for the turn signal and horn. Though it’s hard for parents to accept, children love their independence. It’s essential for them to grow as a person and learn how to grow into an independent adult. Why not give your child Radio Flyer’s Classic Lights and Sounds Trike this Christmas? It’s one of the best gifts you can give to help your child grow. As a bonus, it also shows the importance of physical fitness. When you’re putting together your Christmas shopping list, make sure you add Radio Flyer’s Classic Lights and Sounds Trike to your list. Your child will thank you!

Toys And Mind Puzzles
When we pass puberty, our brain tends to take a back road, heading south down the wrong road. The mind tends to descend into hibernation. Our medulla oblongata demands that we keep it stimulated so that it continues to stay active. Like the body, the brain needs exercise too. Once of the best exercises the brain benefits from, is learning. Of course, you want to take breaks so that the brain gets the rest it needs, yet when you continue to learn your brain will feel stimulated.
